This book was not the kind of book that I would
normally have picked up and read, but after being recommended it I thought I would
give it a go. I have to say that I'm extremely glad that I did. This extremely
readable book tells the story of a happy family who's happiness is torn apart
when the father is killed in a car crash. The mother of the family is forced to
take her children to live with her parents in her old family home. Unfortunately
her father never approved of the marriage and so she is forced to hide the
children away in an old airless attic. The mother promises the children that
they won't have to stay there long and will soon inherit the old mans fortune.
But as time drags on the mother gradually starts to forget about her children
locked away in the attic.
I enjoyed this book very much, it was easy to read
and the story flowed along well. The writing was superb and I can't really fault
the book at all. There are more books in the series and now I guess I'm going to
have to get all of them to continue the story.
